Since Wednesday’s 9 p.m. filing deadline was extended, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are both “prepared to submit new bids” to purchase the Premier League club Manchester United. According to many trusted sources, additional bidders had filed their offers before Wednesday night at 9 o’clock.

The Glazer family put the Old Trafford club up for sale earlier this season, but only Ineos owner Sir Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim have openly expressed interest. Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim apparently requested extra time, and both were granted their requests in an unexpected turn of events. A deadline of 9 p.m. on Wednesday had been set for updated bids to be submitted to investment firm Raine, which is managing the process.

Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim’s bid for Manchester United may reach £5.5 billion

In the earlier part of the evening, claims suggest that Sheikh Jassim has not yet launched his “world-record” bid for the club. According to reports, the offer might reach £5.5 billion. Ratcliffe earlier stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that he was unwilling to overpay for the club, saying: “What you don’t want to do is pay stupid prices for things because then you regret it subsequently.”

The Daily Mail has stated that Ratcliffe may team up with another party to enhance his offer before Wednesday’s 9 p.m. filing deadline. After purchasing the French club in 2019, the lifelong Man United supporter already owns Ligue 1 team Nice.

According to reports, the Glazers want up to £6 million for the team. This week, Sheikh Jassim’s officials travelled to Old Trafford and Carrington, and on Friday, Sir Ratcliffe joined them and briefly met manager Erik ten Hag.

Five offers were made on time, according to the Mirror, and the bids from the duo are anticipated to arrive on Thursday. Raine had anticipated receiving up to eight proposals. Manchester United are currently placed third in the Premier League standings with 50 points from 26 games.
