The former England skipper, Alastair Cook expressed his admiration for Jasprit Bumrah’s lethal performance as he dismantled England’s batting lineup, he took a six-wicket haul on the second day of the second Test in Visakhapatnam.

India ended their first innings on 396, Thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant knock of 209 runs, England initially had a strong start with Zak Crawley’s brilliant 76 runs. However, the 30-year-old Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s resurgence. He dismissed Joe Root for the eighth time in Test cricket, followed by an unplayable yorker that sent off Ollie Pope’s flying stumps.

Bumrah achieved the milestone of 150th Test wicket

Bumrah continued his impact after tea, he took the wickets of Jonny Bairstow and, crucially, skipper Ben Stokes. With Stokes’ dismissal, The Right-arm pacer, not only achieved the milestone of 150 Test wickets but also became the second-fastest Asian to reach this feat. Jasprit Bumrah’s relentless efforts extended to dismissing tail-enders, including Tom Hartley and James Anderson, completing a remarkable six-fer.

Alastair Cook, who captained England in Tests from 2012 to 2017 credited Bumrah for changing the Indi’s fortune in the Test match. Cook praised Bumrah for his role in turning the tide of the game, acknowledging that at 110-1, the situation looked different.

“Bumrah has carried India through today and has single-handedly changed the course of this game,” remarked Cook in an interview with TNT Sports.

He dismissed Ollie Pope with an in-swinging yorker, characterizing it as the turning point. “Bumrah jumped in and ripped the heart out of the England batting line-up,” Cook added. Having faced Bumrah several times during his international career, Cook acknowledged that the Indian pacer bowled exceptionally well. “I’ve faced Bumrah a number of times, but I don’t think I’ve ever faced his bowling as well as that” Cook said again.

Cook praised Bumrah’s unorthodox bowling style, creating different angles that made him challenging for the batsmen. “His awkwardness, his different angles, he creates a different vision for the batter, and it makes him sometimes unplayable,” he added. Bumrah took six wickets for only 45 runs with an economy rate of 2.80 (15.5-5-45-6) in Visakhapatnam.
