After losing the first match against India in the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan took on Hong Kong in a must-win match on 2 September. Against India, Pakistan fought hard. But, they failed to cross the finishing line. On the other hand, Hong Kong also lost its first match against India by 40 runs.
They also showed some character against the Asian giant. India scored 192 runs by losing two wickets while batting first. In reply, they scored 152 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. Hence, the stage was set for a thrilling match between these teams in Sharjah. Already, India, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka qualified for the second round of this year’s tournament.

Speaking of the match, Hong Kong skipper Nizakat Khan won the toss. Then, he asked Pakistan to bat first. Therefore, the Pakistan skipper and Mohammad Rizwan came out to open the innings. Babar Azam did not have a good outing against India. He scored only 10 runs off nine balls, including two fours. He lost his wicket to a bouncer from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hence, fans were eager to see the world’s number one batter in action in this shortest format of the game.
But, again, Babar Azam failed miserably to score for his country in this tournament. He managed only nine runs off eight balls against Hong Kong. He lost his wicket to the veteran spinner Ehsan Khan in a caught & ball dismissal. Therefore, Pakistan dealt with a major blow with such an early breakthrough in this must-win game. With another failure, Babar Azam only scored 19 runs in two matches so far. Fans did not like this at all as they started to troll him on the social media platform. They started to question his ability as the best batter in this T20 format.
