‘Khatam hai bhai ye Banda!’ – Fans troll Rohit Sharma as he departs after scoring 15 runs in World Test Championship 2023 finals
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been the centre of all attraction for a huge section of fans for his prolonged stint of bad performances. The same continued in the World Test Championship Final against Australia after India conceded 469 runs in the first innings.
The Indian team needed a solid start to match the Kangaroos’ big score, which they got thanks to Rohit and Shubman Gill. However, that did not last long as the two openers lost their wickets in consecutive overs for a score of 30 runs. The fans have been trolling Rohit for yet another poor knock in the all-important game.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Sharma chose to bowl first to capitalise on the cloudy conditions on Day 1. While Mohammed Siraj sent Usman Khawaja out for a 10-ball duck, the bowlers had nothing to cheer about. Australia recovered from a rocky start to their innings thanks to a 69-run partnership for the second wicket between David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne.
Travis Head and Steve Smith shine for Australia
Following that, Travis Head (163) assumed responsibility for Australia’s quick runs, with Steve Smith (121) giving solid assistance. The left-handed batsman hit a fast century while scoring regular boundaries. Smith also fought hard and completed his century. The two added 285 runs in their partnership.
India, on the other hand, bounced back with some good plans on Day 2. They caused difficulties for the batsmen with their short balls and were rewarded for it. While, Alex Carey played a small cameo of 48 runs, Indian bowlers kept striking wickets at regular intervals.
In the first innings, Mohammed Siraj‘s four-wicket spell was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue. In addition, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja bagged one. Umesh Yadav did not have the best time in the middle as he went wicketless.
