‘Khi toh khele apne anna’ – Fans react as Ravichandran Ashwin is set to play TNPL 2023 for Dindigul Dragons

Star India bowler Ravichandran Ashwin is set to play the seventh edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023, which started on Monday, June 12. If we talk about Ashwin, he was excluded from the playing XI of the second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which they lost to Australia by 209 runs.
The 36-year-old is recognized as India’s prime spinner across all formats in the last decade and is currently the number-one bowler in Test. He was the leading wicket-taker for India in the 2021-23 cycle of WTC and his absence from the WTC final was a surprise for all cricket fans. The former cricketers and commentators expressed their displeasure for excluding him from the team.
Ravichandran Ashwin picked 14 wickets for RR in IPL 2023
He is expected to join the Test squad for next tour to West Indies. Before joining the Test team, he is set to feature for Dindigul Dragons in the 2023 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Ashwin boarded the flight for his home as his team is set to play the season opener against Ba11sy Trichy on Wednesday, June 14. Ashwin posted an Instagram Story of him boarding a plane and wrote, “Closure! TNPL Calling.”
Ashwin is been part of the Dindigul Dragons squad since 2016. He played only one match in the last season as the Dragons finished sixth in an eight-team tournament with just two wins in 2022. In February 2023, Ashwin was seen at Dindigul’s auction table. Earlier, he had been named to the team with Varun Chakravarthy. In the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, he snapped 14 wickets for the Rajasthan Royals franchise.
