WATCH: Nellai Royal Kings batters smash 33 runs in 19th over to seal thrilling chase in Qualifier 2 of TNPL 2023

Qualifier 2 of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 between Dindigul Dragons (DD) and Nellai Royal Kings (NRK) took place at Tirunelveli on July 10, 2023. DD came into the game after losing the first qualifier, while NRK came in with a win in the eliminator. While Guruswamy Ajitesh and Rithik Easwaran were batting, NRK needed 37 runs in two overs. G Kishoor stepped up to bowl the penultimate over for DD. However, both hitters wreaked havoc, scoring 33 runs. Easwaran smacked three sixes in the first three deliveries. Then, on the fifth delivery, Ajitesh hit another six, and Easwaran added another six on the final ball of the over.

As a result, Kishoor ended the match with a total of 50 runs in three overs without taking a wicket. Guruswamy Ajitesh and Rithik Easwaran of NRK batters hit five sixes and scored 33 runs in the penultimate over of the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2023 Qualifier 2 against DD. G Kishoor bowled the over, the first three balls of which Easwaran hit for sixes. Ajitesh then hit another six, and Easwaran ended the over with another maximum off a free hit.

Nellai Royal Kings will meet Lyca Kovai in TNPL 2023 final

Kishoor then bowled a no-ball, off which Guruswamy also took a single. Easwaran got into his act again, scooping another attempted yorker from the seamer for a six, tipping the scales dramatically in his team’s favor before the 20th over.  That over proved decisive, as Nellai Royal Kings will meet Lyca Kovai Kings in the TNPL 2023 final. Easwaran hit 39* off 11 balls, including six sixes, while Ajitesh hit 73 off 44 balls, including five fours and five sixes.

They simply needed four runs from the previous over. Bhati bowled brilliantly and held his team in the game to the very end of the game. However, he made a mistake on the final ball, and Easwaran struck it for a six, propelling his team to a dramatic triumph. They won by seven wickets, and Ajitesh was named Player of the Match. Now, on July 12, NRK will face Lyca Kovai Kings (LKK) in the TNPL 2023 final.
