Jonny Grave the CEO of West Indies cricket has lambasted the Apex Cricket Board. The comments were made when he was part of a podcast with Wisden Cricket. According to Jonny Grave the Apex Cricket Board isn’t looking after the West Indies team financially.

Over the last few months, the West Indian team has been in the news for their performances. Young pacer Shamar Joseph led the Caribbean side to their first-ever Test win in Australia for 27 years.

In 2023, the West Indies missed out on playing in the ODI World Cup in India. The former World Cup winner had crashed out of the ODI World Cup qualifying matches in Zimbabwe. This was the first time the two-time winners hadn’t played in the ODI World Cup. This year West Indies is set to cost host the T20 World Cup with the USA.

West Indies Board CEO slams World Cricket Body –

Jonny Grave didn’t mince any words when he slammed Apex Cricket Body during a podcast recently. Mr. Grave was a guest on Wisden’s Monthly Podcast where he made these comments.

“I think everyone is a bit sick of the phrase- the world needs a strong West Indies- when we feel that world cricket is doing everything they can at least at every level to make sure the West Indies cricket is never strong again” opined Jonny Grave.

According to the West Indies cricket CEO, the Apex Cricket Body needs to give more money. The former ODI and T20I World Cup winners get just 5% of the share from the revenue model.

Jonny Grave said on the topic further “I think that is the borne of frustration of that as Ian Bishop says in his own words that this is a patronizing tone. If you want a strong West Indies cricket, it would not be that hard to do a bit more. They are giving us money in headlines but the percentage of revenue has gone down from 7 to 5% which we struggle to understand. If we all just are looking after ourselves then are we acting as a community?”

West Indian players have been busy playing for various franchises across the world in recent times. The next big tournament is the upcoming IPL 2024 where the Caribbean players will show their skills.
