India lost the second match of the five-match T20I series against West Indies by two wickets. Former Windies skipper, Nicholas Pooran was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant match-winning performance. He scored 67 runs off 40 balls with six fours and four sixes in his innings. The third T20I of the series will be played at the Providence Stadium, in Guyana on Tuesday, August 8.

“Satisfied that I performed. Something that I have been looking for in the last couple of years, so be there and finish games. I want to be consistent. I have been working so hard, I have made a lot of mistakes and lost a lot of games for my teams. I want to entertain the fans as much as possible. It’s about being positive and confident,” Pooran was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.

We have we will have to trust our top 7 batters: Hardik Pandya

Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for Men in Blue, as he snapped three wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 35 runs in his spell. After the match, he asserted that the team is young and will learn from their mistakes in the coming games in this series as well as in the future.

“If am being honest that was not a pleasing batting performance, we could have batted better,” the Indian skipper was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation. “160+ or 170 would have been a good total. The way he (Tilak Varma) has been batting, becomes very difficult to rotate spinners. 2/2 and the way he batted, took the game quite into their hands,” Pandya added.

“With the current combination we have we will have to trust our top 7 batters to come good and hope the bowlers win you games. We have to find ways to make sure we have the right balance but at the same time, batters need to take more responsibility. The left-hander coming at 4 gives us variety. It doesn’t feel like it’s his second international game,” the all-rounder stated.
