According to reports, KKR has released Shardul Thakur ahead of the IPL auctions in 2024. Notably, the star cricketer is one of the best bowling all-rounders in India and is up for grabs in the auctions. Reports were suggesting that Shardul might be traded with RCB for Harshal Patel. However, the latest reports suggest that the deal could not happen. Hence, Shardul Thakur has been released by the KKR. The right-arm pacer can be in demand at auctions in IPL 2024.
The star all-rounder played a blinder against RCB and helped them win the match that had slipped away from them. Notably, the 32-year-old is capable of making such knocks with the bat. It is not even his primary skill. With the ball, Shardul is handy in breaking partnerships. Shardul Thakur does go for runs, but he does the job as a wicket-taking bowler. It makes him a valuable asset. Many teams might be interested in Shardul Thakur in the auctions.
Notably, some of the teams, like RCB, CSK, DC, and RR, need bowling all-rounders who can be handy with both bat and ball. With the impact rule being the reality, the value of all-rounders might be low as compared to the past. But even as a genuine bowler, Shardul can be worthy of the team. However, there have been instances where Shardul got wickets out of nowhere. In the ODI World Cup 2023, the great cricketer was one of the starters for India. Unfortunately, the injury to Hardik Pandya forced him to be benched and allowed Shami to be in. Barring the second half of the IPL 2021, Shardul has not had a breakthrough season in the history of the IPL.
