Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper, Aiden Makram won the toss and chose to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants during their IPL 2023 clash in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. SRH posted a competitive total of 182 in their 20 overs. It is a must-win game for SRH in order to keep their chances of making the playoffs alive with only three more games remaining for the side.
In their last encounter, SRH defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a commanding win. KL Rahul, LSG‘s regular skipper, will be missing for the rest of the season. They enter the game after losing the last match against Gujarat Titans by 56 runs, having dropped two of their previous three games. A victory over SRH will increase their chances of finishing in the top four.

The LSG team had yet another issue when crowd disturbances occurred during the first innings. A no-ball judgment was reversed in the 19th over of the SRH innings as a result of a Decision Review System (DRS) examination. Both spectators were confused by the verdict because Avesh’s delivery looked to be far above Abdul Samad’s waist. The third umpire first ruled that the batter was crouching, but he later reversed himself after seeing that the ball tracker indicated that the ball was over the stumps.
The LSG dugout protested that something was thrown at them, which upset the home crowd and caused commotion in Hyderabad. The match was halted for roughly five minutes while the problem was resolved. Local police were called to the stand where the Lucknow team was situated. “Disappointed, that’s not what you expect from the home crowd. Broke our momentum as well. Not so great umpiring either, hope they stay consistent,” SRH batter Henrick Klaasen said criticising the home crowd and the umpires.
