‘Kya matlab abhi aur khelna hai’ – Fans react to Australia’s Nathan Lyon becoming first spinner to play 100 consecutive Test matches
The seasoned off-spinner Nathan Lyon has lately been one of the key players for Australia in red-ball cricket over the years, both at home and abroad. The star off-spinner has been one the major threats for the opponents due to his ability to provide crucial breakthroughs. Lyon is currently playing the Ashes Test series, where he was sublime in the first Test and the team will be looking for him to deliver yet again in the second Ashes Test. Interestingly, it will be Lyon’s consecutive 100 Test matches. He will also be becoming the first bowler to participate in 100 straight Test matches.
The 35-year-old also became the sixth cricketer to reach this milestone and also entered the elite list of players like former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, former England captain Alastair Cook, along with former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum, as well as compatriots Mark Waugh, and Allan Border.
Here are how fans on Twitter congratulated the spin maestro:

Unless he’s dropped without reason, as it happens in some other countries often 😉

Test cricket is the toughest format of cricket as it is a five-day contest, and to play over 100 matches is seriously an appreciable achievement, but to play these matches back-to-back without missing a single match for the country is certainly an even bigger achievement. It is more surprising, as from the names mentioned above, he is the only bowler to have achieved this feat, which even more glorifies this effort from the ace Australian spinner.
The 35-year-old, who was earlier a ground staff at the historic Adelaide Oval, went on to earn his maiden Test call-up for the Australian side in the year 2011. To date, Lyon has so far made 121 appearances for the Baggy Greens in the longest format of the game. The star Australian spinner is just five dismissals away from a historic feat of 500 Test wickets. Lyon has also taken four 10-wickets and 23 five-wicket hauls throughout his illustrious career.
