‘Kya mtlb ki Jr. Shah Dhoni ko tribute de raha hai’ – Fans react as CSK beat DC by 77 runs to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2023
In the 67th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 77 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. While batting first, CSK posted a massive total of 223/3 with the help of openers. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway had a great opening partnership of 141 runs as they thrashed DC bowlers.
After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team as both openers hammered DC bowlers all around the park. Ruturaj Gaikwad, in his innings, scored 79 runs off just 50 balls with the help of three boundaries and seven sixes. Meanwhile, Conway scored 87 runs off 52 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and three sixes.
After their dismissal, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube’s cameo helped CSK to cross the 200 runs mark. Jadeja, in his innings, scored 20 runs off 7 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six. Meanwhile, Dube scored 22 runs off nine balls with the help of three sixes. For DC, Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje and Khaleel Ahmed clinched a wicket each.
David Warner – The one-man army for DC
Chasing a 200+ target at their home ground, Delhi Capitals failed to hold their nerves. Opener Prithvi Shaw, Rilee Russouw and Phil Salt were dismissed for cheap. First, Tushar Deshpande dismissed Prithvi Shaw for just 5 runs off seven balls. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar clinched two wickets on consecutive deliveries by dismissing Salt and Russouw.
After their departure, skipper Warner started his one-man army show. He hammered his sixth half-century of the season as he scored 86 runs off 58 balls with the help of seven boundaries and five sixes. He was dismissed by Matheesha Pathirna in the second last over of the game.
Apart from him, not a single DC batter looked in touch as DC lost the game by 77 runs. For CSK, Deepak Chahar clinched three wickets, while Matheesha Pathirna and Maheesh Teekshna clinched two wickets each. With this victory, CSK sealed their spot in the playoffs after finishing ninth in the last season.

Equations:
1) KKR needs to chase in 8 overs to go past RCB
2) if KKR chases in 17 overs or less, LSG's NRR will drop below RCB's
3) LSG needs to win by 95 runs or more to claim 2nd spot.— Sahil Kumar (@sahil_pec) May 20, 2023
