Team India began their three-match ODI series in Bangladesh on 4 December 2022. Recently, they went to New Zealand for a three-match ODI and T20I series. However, after the 20-20 World Cup, all senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul took a rest from that tour.

However, for this series, all players made a comeback. In the context of the upcoming 2023 World Cup, this series is a big one for both teams. Speaking of the match, Litton Das won the toss and asked the Men in Blue to bat first. For them, the skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan came out to open.

Fans slammed KL Rahul for dropping an easy catch on the field against Bangladesh

While batting first, India had a collapse as they got bundled out for 186 runs in 41.2 overs. Apart from KL Rahul, all batters failed miserably. He scored 73 runs off 70 balls, including five fours and four sixes. All eyes were on this star batter as he has failed to score big for team India since his comeback from injury. He failed to score in Zimbabwe ODIs. Then, in the Asia Cup, he managed only one fifty. In the 20-20 World Cup, he scored only 128 runs in six matches.

Ahead of this series, while speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said: “KL Rahul will be a proper middle-order batsman for the fifty-over World Cup. If that happens, they will fit him at number five.” Team India did the same as they gave him chance in the middle order. Meanwhile, fans became happy with his innings. But, he became a villain at the end of the innings when he missed an easy catch. Bangladesh were struggling at 155 runs for nine wickets while chasing 187 runs. Shardul Thakur came up to bowl the 43rd over while Mehidy Hasan Miraz was batting. On the third delivery of that over, Hasan tried to slash a shortish delivery to the offside. But, he managed only an edge. Then, Rahul had the time to go back close to the fine leg and he settled under it also. But, he made a mess of it by dropping it. As a result, Miraz survived and helped Bangladesh to win the game in 46 overs.
