‘Lion back at his den’ – Fans react to viral image of Shubman Gill practicing before ODI World Cup 2023 game vs Pakistan

Shubman Gill is in focus ahead of the crucial ODI World Cup 2023 game between India and Pakistan. The match is set to be played on Saturday in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Rohit Sharma had earlier said that Gill was 99% fit to play the game on Saturday. The latest visuals from Ahmedabad will excite the Indian fans with Shubman Gill seen near the center wicket.

Both India and Pakistan have a 100% record so far during the ODI World Cup 2023. A win for either side on Saturday will make them early favorites to play the semi-finals having won three games in a row.

Shubman Gill set to feature on Saturday

Good news has come early for the Indian fans as Shubman Gill is set to play on Saturday. The 24-year-old hasn’t featured in any of the two games so far during the ODI World Cup 2023. Gill had missed the games against Australia in Chennai and Afghanistan in New Delhi. The return of the stylish right-hander will boost the Indian batting line-up against a formidable Pakistani attack. Rohit Sharma will once again open the batting with Gill at the top as Ishan Kishan is set to miss out.

There is also debate on the bowling combination the Indian team might want to go in with. Shardul Thakur was expensive in the game against Afghanistan on Wednesday. There are also concerns about Mohammad Siraj after his less-than-impressive performances so far. Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Shami or both could feature for India on Saturday. Shami in particular is yet to feature during the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign for India. There are also murmurs of Suryakumar Yadav being in the fray to play the game against Pakistan on Saturday.

The Pakistanis on the other hand seem to have a set team after their amazing win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Babar Azam has promised to bat differently ahead of the India game while speaking to the media.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Haris Rauf are set to lead the pace attack for Pakistan. The 100,000 fans in attendance are sure to witness a great match in one of the biggest arenas in the world.
