‘Look at his own character’- Shahid Afridi blasts Dinesh Kaneria after spinner’s controversial claims
Former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi has blasted Dinesh Kaneria after the latter put some serious allegations against him. For the unversed, Dinesh Kaneria, earlier, stated that Shahid Afridi didn’t want him to be a part of the team and also termed him as a characterless person.
Kaneria further added that Afridi would provoke other team members against him as he was jealous of him. “He didn’t want me to be in the team. He was a liar; a manipulator because he’s a characterless person. However, my focus was only on cricket and I used to ignore all these tactics.
Shahid Afridi was the only person who would go to other players and provoke them against me. I was performing well and he was jealous of me. I am proud that I played for Pakistan. I was grateful,” Kaneria had said.
One of the most celebrated cricketers in Pakistan, Shahid Afridi has hit now hit back at the former Pakistan spinner. Afridi has rubbished all the allegations that Kaneria has put against him. He said that Kaneria was only like his younger brother and he should have complained to the Pakistan Cricket Board at that time if the former Pakistan captain was biased against Dinesh Kaneria.
“And the person saying all this, look at his own character,” Afridi was quoted by thenews.com.pk. “Kaneria was like my younger brother and I played with him in the department for many years.”
“If my attitude was bad then why he did not complain to the Pakistan Cricket Board or the department he was playing for. He is giving interviews to our enemy country which can incite religious sentiments.”
Shahid Afridi is regarded as one of the greatest players ever to play for Pakistan. In his illustrious career, he played 398 ODIs for Pakistan and scored 8064 runs at an average of 23.6. Besides, in 99 T20 internationals, he has 1416 runs to his name at 17.9.
