‘LSG are even more strong now’- Twitter reacts as KL Rahul gets injured in first over of LSG vs RCB IPL 2023 clash

KL Rahul injury IPL

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a blow during their IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore as skipper KL Rahul was forced off the field due to a leg injury. The injury occurred while Rahul was chasing a ball towards the third-man fence. He was seen holding his right thigh, even when he was on the run.

Although the LSG physios brought out a stretcher, Rahul opted to walk his way back to the dugout, albeit in visible pain. Krunal Pandya took over the captaincy reins for LSG.

Rahul is LSG’s second-highest scorer in IPL 2023, behind opening partner Kyle Mayers, with 274 runs. However, he has faced criticism for his slow strike rate of 114.

Jaydev Unadkat suffers injury during net session

In another blow for LSG, the broadcaster confirmed that left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat had also suffered an injury on Sunday. Both Unadkat and Rahul are part of India’s World Test Championship final squad, with the match against Australia set to begin on June 7 at the Oval in London.

Rahul’s injury could be a cause of concern for the Indian team ahead of the WTC final. The right-handed batsman has been in good form in the IPL, scoring runs consistently at the top of the order. However, his slow strike rate has been a talking point, and his injury may give the Indian team management an opportunity to try out other options.

LSG will also be hoping for a quick recovery for Unadkat, who has been a vital cog in their bowling attack. The left-arm pacer has picked up nine wickets in nine matches for LSG so far in IPL 2023.

The injury to Rahul and Unadkat comes at a crucial stage of the IPL, with teams battling it out for a playoff spot. LSG will hope to have their key players fit and ready as they look to make a late surge in the tournament.
