In what comes as a surprising development, the Lucknow franchise might sign Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. Earlier, it was reported that two new franchises, i.e. Ahmedabad and Lucknow had to submit their draft picks by January 22.
Thus, as several reports have already mentioned the RPSG-owned franchise are all set to sign KL Rahul as their first pick, he will most likely lead the new franchise as well. The Indian opener will seemingly have the services of the Australian all-rounder Stoinis as well as the talented leggie Bishnoi, as Lucknow look to have a big purse ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.
K Sriniwas Rao, who happens to be a veteran journalist, took to Twitter to reveal that the Uttar Pradesh franchise is in talks with the two players. In his Tweet, he said that he was surprised that they didn’t push for Yuzvendra Chahal or Rashid Khan
“Okay… lunch break so let me quickly share an IPL update. Ravi Bishnoi & Marcus Stoinis could join KL Rahul at Lucknow. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t push for Chahal or Rashid. But considering Bishnoi is uncapped, it’s understandable. They save money ahead of the auction.” read K Sriniwas Rao’s Tweet.
The two new teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow get to pick a maximum of three players from the list of non-retained cricketers ahead of the mega auction. It is to be noted that the two franchises can only pick one overseas player. Thus, as of Ahmedabad, Rao had earlier Tweeted that Hardik Pandya would captain the Gujrat-based franchise.
“Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the brand new Ahmedabad franchise (not Shreyas). They’re getting Rashid Khan on board too. Action-packed week. : )” read his Tweet. Hence, with the Indian T20 league all set to become a ten-team affair, things are going to get a lot more interesting.
