Manchester United might face ban from Champions League 2024, check out why

Manchester United are on the verge of not qualifying for the Knockout stage of the Champions League 2023 due to their bad performance. The red devils are not performing to the best of their abilities and might find themselves missing from the tournament. There will be a change in ownership of the club, as there is a bid for purchasing the club from the Britain’s richest man.

Jim Ratcliffe is expected to purchase Manchester United in the upcoming days. The bid for purchasing the club is estimated to be around 1.25 billion euros, which is a mammoth sum. The Glazers are still likely to hold the majority. But Ratcliffe can have more control over the club, over decision making, transformation of the side, and other stuffs related to the performance of the club.

Before that could happen, there is a big problem for both Ratcliffe and Man United. The ownership of Nice is in the question. The club is expected to finish in the top 2 spots of the Ligue 1, which might make them a contender to take part in the Champions League. As per the current rules of the European union’s multi-club ownership, the chances of both the clubs going to the Champions League 2024 seems difficult.

Manchester United vs Nice!

For both the teams to qualify for the Champions League, either of them must clinch an automatic spot in the Champions League, and the other club to take part in the Europa Conference League. Reports claim that the team finishing at the higher position in their respective points table would qualify for the Champions League, and the other team would be out of the European competition.

Since Nice is taking part in Ligue 1 and performing very well, and Manchester United performing not so well, the chances of Manchester United qualifying for the Champions League seems difficult. If both the teams finish at the same spot in their respective leagues, then Manchester United would make it to the Champions League considering the access list of the European Football association, in which they are placed higher.
