Punjab is presently playing against Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2022’s 60th match. After winning the toss, Bangalore chose to bowl first. Jonny Bairstow then gave the men in red and gold a perfect start, along with Shikhar Dhawan. He started attacking the ball from the word go. He made sure to take the best advantage of the field restrictions in the first six overs.

Despite losing Dhawan (21 runs in 15 balls) within the powerplay, Bairstow did not stop. He hit a six on the fifth ball of the sixth over to complete his 21-ball half-century. The Englishman helped Punjab reach 83 runs in the powerplay. This score in the powerplay is the highest by any team in the 15th season. With this fifty, Bairstow took the half-century count to two in a row.

He hit a few more good shots before being dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over of the game. Bairstow stepped out to attack the ball, but Ahmed smartly bowled the delivery wide outside the off-stump. He tried to go straight down the line, but an edge took the ball to Mohammed Siraj’s hands at short third man. Bairstow scored 66 runs in 29 balls, with four boundaries and seven sixes.

Meanwhile, Twitter was elated with the batter scoring a quick half-century. “There’s nobody in the world like Jonny Bairstow when he hits top level. Fast starts, fast middle overs, pace spin everything will go. That’s why Punjab backed backed and backed him,” a happy fan wrote.
