‘Maut ka tamasha’ – Fans react as WTC final 2023 creates unique record in broadcasting history
The World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023, between India and Australia, touched a brilliant record as it became the highest-viewed match in the history of cricket. Star Sports Network claimed that the match between the two sides became the most-watched encounter of all time. According to BARC data, Star Sports opined that the match between India and Australia noticed a viewership of 124 million.
This is the highest viewership of any Test match in history. It is 32% higher than that of the WTC final which took place back in 2021 and was played between India and New Zealand. Star Sports Network was the official broadcaster for the WTC final 2023. Disney+ Hotstar live-streamed the game for online users. The broadcasters stated that they touched 14.4 billion minutes of watch time for live broadcasts, which is also the most for any match.
In an official statement, Star Sports Spokesperson thanked all the fans for the support they have shown during the time of WTC final 2023. The Spokesperson asserted that the record will set the potential growth of sports events on their channel.

Disney+Hotstar – the OTT app for Star Sports- recently announced that they will live stream the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023 free for all mobile users in India. Indian Cricket fans will be able to watch these two major tournaments live and for free on the Disney+Hotstar app.
