Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya have been signed by new team, Lucknow in the ongoing Indian T20 League auction. Hooda was slotted in the second set with a base price of INR 75 lakh. The bidding was started by Rajasthan and was joined by Bangalore. At 1.8 crores, Bangalore pulled out and was replaced by Mumbai. Rajasthan also pulled out and was replaced by Chennai.
Around 4 crores, Lucknow entered the bidding and acquired the services of the hard-hitting batter for 5.75 crores. The franchise went on to sign Hooda’s former teammate in Baroda, Krunal Pandya. Pandya was slotted in set three with a base price of INR 2 crores. Chennai and Punjab started tussling for the all-rounder. Both teams dropped out but were replaced by Lucknow and Hyderabad at 6 crores.
At 7.25 crores, Gujarat replaced Hyderabad but Lucknow nabbed the left-hander for 8.25 crores. This development made the netizens crazy as both players had a heated argument last year. Hooda decided to pull out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy early last year after alleging Pandya for abusing him.
Meanwhile, Pandya was released by Mumbai and Hooda was released by Punjab last year. Hooda recently made his international debut in the recently concluded ODI series against the West Indies. The right-hander has played 80 games since 2015 for Rajasthan, Hyderabad, and Punjab and has amassed 785 runs, striking at 129.54. On the other hand, Pandya was regular feature for Mumbai since 2016 and played four more games than Hooda. He amassed 1143 runs striking at 138.55.
