‘Miyan Magic’ – Fans react as Mohammed Siraj takes 6 wicket haul against South Africa in 2nd Test to dismiss them for 55 runs
India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj has been a saviour for India in the second test match against South Africa of India’s tour of South Africa. The teams are currently locking horns for the one final match of India’s tour at the Newlands in Cape Town from 3 January to 7 January. In the game, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat, while inviting India to bowl in the capital city.
South Africa’s plans to put a huge score on the board were ruined by Mohammed Siraj as he took a six-wicket haul in the first innings. Siraj’s noteworthy spell was widely appreciated by the fans as the Indian Team miserably lost the first Test match after consistently losing the wickets.
Siraj ended his first spell of the 1st innings with figures 9-3-15-6 as he dismissed Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham, Kyle Vereynne and Marco Jansen while giving only 15 runs in his spell of 9 overs.
The Indian team dismissed South Africa within 55 runs in the first innings of the second test match, making it the latter’s lowest score against India in Test cricket. Kyle Vereynne became the highest scorer for the team as he put 15 runs on the board, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets each.

Rohit Sharma on India’s Playing XI against South Africa
At the toss, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about the loss in the first Test and how the team seeks redemption, he said, “Would’ve batted first as well. Looks like a good pitch. We understand the challenge of batting first on that pitch, but there will be enough in the pitch for the seamers, so hopefully we’ll cash in on it. Important to forget what’s happened in the past.
“We understand the importance of getting runs on the board and getting 20 wickets. Didn’t happen in the first game but we’re upbeat about what we can achieve. Two changes. Jadeja comes back for Ashwin. Shardul misses out, Mukesh Kumar replaces him,” Rohit added.
