Mohammad Azharuddin Dismisses Irregularities In The Sale Of Tickets For The Third T20I In Hyderabad
Team India are currently busy playing the three-match T20I series against Australia. On 20 September 2022, India lost the series opener in Mohali. Now, on 23 September, India took on Australia in Nagpur. However, the third and last match of the series will happen in Hyderabad on 25 September.
But, on 22 September, an unwanted scenario occurred as Hyderabad Police got involved to control the massive crowd who came to buy match tickets at the Gymkhana ground. The video went viral all over the internet. Now, regarding the selling of match tickets, former India cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin dismissed any irregularities in the sale of tickets.
“All the reports about irregularities in the sale of tickets for the match are baseless.” – Mohammad Azharuddin
Azharuddin is currently the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Now, regarding that chaos, Azharuddin said that Paytm had the responsibility to sell the tickets. He said: “All the reports about irregularities in the sale of tickets for the match are baseless. If anyone proves that corruption has taken place in the sale of tickets, strict action will be taken.”
He also expressed regret regarding whatever happened at Gymkhana. Mohammad Azharuddin added: “I don’t know how these reports of discrepancies in ticket sales have cropped up. The HCA has not done anything wrong in this regard. I wonder how there can be irregularities when the tickets were sold online. Yes, we regret and feel sad about whatever happened at Gymkhana Grounds. The HCA is taking care of the injured.”
Secretary R. Vijayanand of the Hyderabad Cricket Association also said that despite differences in the association, it will not hamper the preparations for the match. “Because of COVID, the stadium couldn’t be maintained properly. Now, we are taking all measures for spectators before Sunday’s match,” he concluded. Hyderabad hosted its last international match on 6 December 2019. So, fans are eagerly waiting to see the Men in Blue in action again in the city after a long gap.
