“Most Memorable Series Victory” – Fans Laud Team India After Their Emphatic ODI Series Win Against England In Manchester
The stage was set for India and England as they met at Manchester on 17 July 2022 for the series decider in the ongoing three-match ODI series. India won the first match while England managed to bounce back by winning the second match. Hence, India came into this game with a motive to hand England an ODI home series defeat since 2014 for the first time.
Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and he asked England to bat first. However, he said that Jasprit Bumrah missed the match due to some niggle. Mohammed Siraj was taken in place of him. As expected, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow came out open the innings for England. Jason Roy looked in sublime touch as he smashed Shami for three boundaries in the first over. But, Siraj produced a double-wicket maiden over as he picked up the vital wickets of Bairstow and Joe Root.
Then, the next five batters chipped in with some crucial contributions as England reached up to 259 runs in 45.5 overs. However, they failed to play the full 50-over quota as they lost all the wickets. England skipper Jos Buttler was the highest scorer with his 60 runs innings while Hardik Pandya was the star of the show with his four-wicket haul. Yuzvendra Chahal also helped India by grabbing three wickets in 9.5 overs.
In reply, the Indian top-order failed miserably once again as India was struggling at 43 runs for three wickets after the end of 10 overs. Suryakumar Yadav failed also as Hardik Pandya came out to bat with Rishabh Pant. Then, these batters put up a solid partnership of 133 runs before Hardik lost his wicket to Brydon Carse in the 36th over. Hardik Pandya scored 71 runs off 55 balls at a strike rate of 129.09. But, Rishabh Pant scored his maiden ODI century (125* off 113 balls) as India managed to win this match. Rishabh Pant hit David Willey for five consecutive fours in the 42nd over. With this win, India also won the series at a margin of 2-1.
