The Indian T20 League 2022 has gripped the nation with cricketing fever in the last two weeks. The advertising concept ahead of the tournament was a unique one. The theme of the campaign came out as everything is normal for the fans during the Gala event.

But according to the latest news the Advertising Standards Council of India has asked the Indian T20 League council to withdraw one of the promotional advertisements featuring the Indian stalwart MS Dhoni. The council has asked for the withdrawal of the advertisement after a road safety organization lodged an official complaint stating that the ad was promoting the violation of traffic rules.

It was the Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) that filed the complaint. The complaint was against the promo, which portrays MS Dhoni as a bus driver. In the promo, Dhoni is seen stopping the bus mid-traffic to watch an Indian T20 League match. But traffic police intervene and asks Dhoni the reason for stopping the bus. Dhoni replies that they are watching the ‘Super Over’ of an Indian T20 League match, listening to which the policeman accepts this as normal and leaves.

The ASCI, which is a voluntary industrial body took notice of the complaint. As a result, the Consumer Complaint Committee (CCC) members of the committee watched the advertisement with representatives of the company which has made the same.

After watching the promo, the ASCI validated the complaint and asked the company to either modify the promo or completely withdraw it by the 20th of April, 2022. The company has accepted the ruling and has given it in writing that the promo will be withdrawn.
