At a time when there is no clarity over the hosting right of Asia Cup 2023, ACC president Jay Shah has announced tournament groups. He took to Twitter and shared the graphics of the Asian Cricket Calender for the years, 2023 and 2024. In the Tweet, the schedule of the Asian Cricket Calender has been explained. Also, Shah announced that India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group.

Currently, Pakistan is the official host of the Asia Cup 2023

Pakistan is currently the host of this year’s Asia Cup 2023. Since 2008, the Asian Country hasn’t hosted the continental cup. Meanwhile, late last year, Shah, made a storming statement by saying that the tournament would be shifted out of Pakistan. He cited possible none-permission from the Indian government. In reply, former PCB chairperson Ramiz Raja threatened to pull out of the ODI World Cup in India.

However, a few days before his sacking, Raa admitted that the board is ready to play the World Cup. He also admitted that he was acting out watching the fans’ sentiments. On the other hand, Najam Sethi, who replaced Raja said that the board will take advice from the government over traveling to India.

“We will obey whatever the government would suggest to us and we will seek the government’s advice when the time arrives, similar to the last time I was the chairman. As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, I will go to ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and see what the situation is and we’ll take a decision that is in the better interest of the game. We have to see what the other board’s position is, we have to play cricket with everyone, and we will not take any step which can cause any isolation,” said Newly-appointed PCB chief Najam Sethi.
