Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is all set to undergo a knee replacement surgery in Australia. Nicknamed as ‘Rawalpindi Express’ due to his express pace, Akhtar’s career was marred by injuries in his back, knee, and elbow.

The former Pakistan fast bowler missed several key matches for Pakistan due to the same and also retired from the game a bit early. The latest injury will see Akhtar’s knee being replaced. Before leaving for Australia, the 46-year-old posted a picture of himself after a possible outdoor activity he had from his official Twitter account and captioned it as, “My running days are over as am leaving for total knee replacement in Australia Melbourne very soon,” Akhtar tweeted.

During his prime, Akhtar troubled the best of the batters of his era and left them gasping for breath. Several cricketers named Akhtar as the fastest bowl they encountered during his career. He also holds the record of bowling the fastest ball in the match.

He finished his career by taking 178 Test wickets and 247 ODI wickets respectively. After retirement, Akhtar has turned into a cricket expert and runs a Youtube channel. He is very active on social media and indulges in many fun banters with many former cricketers on social media. Fans across the world would be hoping and praying that Akhtar’s surgery goes well.
