The fight between Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli during the IPL 2023 was one of the most talked about topics in the entire year. Reports suggested that Naveen was not happy with the fact that Virat suggested the bowlers to bowl short deliveries towards the lower-order batters. The two players had exchanges with each other which led to a difference between each other for the rest of the season.

After the IPL 2023, the two players met each other for the first time in the ODI World Cup 2023. Surprisingly, the two players had some talk with each other in the middle and ended their fight. The two players hugged each other, and Virat asked the crowd to not take his name against Naveen. Since then, the Afghanistan player has got good support from the Indian crowd in different matches.

in one of the matches, Naveen acknowledged the support of the crowd. Speaking about the same in an interview, Naveen revealed the conversation he had with Virat before ending their differences. “He said, ‘Finish it?’, I said, ‘Yes, let’s finish it’ so we laughed about it, we hugged, and we moved on. He said, ‘Now after this, you won’t hear my name’ or something he said [and that], ‘You’ll only get support from the crowd’. I said yeah (smiles),” said Naveen.

‘When it’s about your country, you’ve to speak up’ – Naveen-ul-Haq

The Afghanistan pacer added that he would stand up for his teammates whenever they are in trouble.  “I will stand for my teammate; I’ll talk for my teammate. That’s why we are a team. Whether that’s franchise cricket, or if you are playing for Afghanistan, or just club cricket. Basically, when it’s about your country, you’ve to speak up,” added Naveen.

Referring to one of his Instagram posts regarding Australia not touring Afghanistan in the past, Naveen added that one must speak up for the country. Naveen felt happy that the Indian crowd greeted him and his team well. The right-arm pacer said that they got good support from the Indian crowd in the ODI World Cup 2023 wherever they played, barring the game against India.
