All-rounder from the Rajasthan franchise, Riyan Parag recently praised the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni for his finishing abilities. The 21-year-old believes that no one could come close to Dhoni in terms of finishing the game. The young cricketer from Assam has appeared in 47 matches in the Indian T20 League for Rajasthan where he amassed 522 runs and scalped 4 wickets as a leg spinner. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the upcoming season for ₹3.8. Parag recently had a good tournament in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy where he scored 253 runs at a strike rate of 165.35.

“I have been doing the finishing role for the last three years now. There is just one name that comes to my mind, which I also have said before, MS Dhoni. I do not think anyone else has mastered that art. Going into that role, I always look up to him, how he finishes games or how he takes the game deep,” said Parag as quoted by Sportskeeda.

“Earlier, it did affect me and it hampered my performance. But now I am pretty straight on what I want to do on social media. I have a lot of strong opinions; I just like to state them and I am not waiting for anyone else to reply or give their opinions,” he further added.

Parag also said that he prefers to bat at number 4, but can also bat according to his team’s requirements.

“If they (Rajasthan) were to ask me where I want to bat, I would say No. 4,” he said. “But, then, like always, I am open to bat wherever the team needs me and wherever they think I fit the best. It is a team game; whichever way the combinations match up, I am happy to contribute,” said Parag.

“I had a very good domestic season and, in the buildup for the Indian T20 League, we have had a few camps in Jaipur,” Parag continued. “Everyone has looked in good touch with both the bat and the ball. I do not think the confidence part has changed; I have always been confident,” he added.

Parag will be seen in action again for the Rajasthan franchise in the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League that will kickstart on March 31st with a match between Gujarat and Chennai in Ahmedabad. Rajasthan will begin their campaign on April 2nd against the Hyderabad franchise.
