Noida authorities siezes bank accounts of 2011 World Cup winner to recover money
Former India cricketer, Munaf Patel‘s bank accounts have been seized by the Noida authorities. The action was taken after a recovery certificate was issued by the Uttar Pradesh – Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA). Apparently, the former India pacer is a director in a real estate company, Niwas Promoters Private Limited. The company undertook a project but has failed to repay the investors.
According to the local district administration, the company started a residential project in sector 10 in the Greater Noida West sector, but the project is still not completed. After this, a complaint was filed against the investors, followed by an action against the directors, including Patel. After the hearing, the UP RERA issued the RC on the real-estate firm for recovering Rs 10 crore worth of investors’ money.
Meanwhile, the bank accounts of the 2008 Indian T20 League are seized to recover a sum of 52 lakhs INR (5.2 million). For the unversed, Recovery certificates are orders that are issued by the regulatory authority asking builders to clear homebuyers’ dues if the builders have failed to deliver projects within the deadline.
