In the ongoing Day Three of the Rajkot Test, the India Cricket Team has decided to wear black armbands. On February 13, former India skipper and one of the oldest Test players, Dattajirao Gaekwad died at the age of 95. He was suffering from age-related illness and took his last breath at a Baroda Hospital. His son, Anshuman also played for India between 1952 and 1961 and also led the side during the 1959 tour of England.

In 2016, after the death of Deepak Shodhan at the age of 87, the senior Gaekwad became the oldest living Test cricketer in India. The oldest living Test cricketer from India is now Chingleput Gopinath, the cricketer from Madras, who is 93 years and 349 days old. Meanwhile, during the ongoing day Three, the Asian side has decided to wear black armbands in respect to the Sr Gaekwad, as confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board.
