ODI World Cup 2023: Former India spinner launches scorching attack on Ravichandran Ashwin
Ahead of the prestigious ODI World Cup 2023, star India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin faces backlash on social media. Former India spinner Laxman Shivaramakrishnan has launched a string of verbal attacks on Ashwin. Since his selection in the World Cup squad, Shivaramakrishnan has questioned Ashwin’s bowling action and abilities.
Questioning the commentary panel of the prestigious tournament, Shivaramakrishnan said these things. Replying to the list of commentators, Shivaramakrishnan said, “There is not one genuine spinner in the commentary panel that is being played in India. How will people get educated on spin bowling? Does it mean only batsmen and some colour commentators know the game? Pathetic mix.”
Replying to comments under his tweet, Shivaramakrishnan points out that the West Indies are not even playing in the World Cup while Samuel Badree is doing commentary. He said, “The West Indies are not even playing; who is he representing? What logic?” Further questioning Ravichandran Ashwin’s skills, he said, “Indian batters are struggling against spin because the pitches in India are doctored for Ashwin in Test matches. Look at his record in SENA countries.”
“Ashwin called me to take tips”, says Laxman Shivaramakrishnan
Further intensifying his attacks, Shivaramakrishnan said, “Any fool will get wickets on tampered pitches in India. Go straight from the airport to the ground and tell the ground staff what areas to tamper. I have seen with my own eyes several times.”
Earlier, Laxman Shivaramakrishnan revealed that Ravichandran Ashwin personally called him to take tips for his bowling action. Shivaramakrishnan revealed that Ashwin also slammed trolls for trolling him and sought Shivaramakrishnan’s assistance.
He said, “Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action. He was as shocked by the venom of the trolls as I was. It was also clarified that the people involved are in no way connected to him. Good luck, @ashwinravi99. Do us proud.” It’s worth noting that Ashwin made a last-minute entry into the World Cup squad after all-rounder Axar Patel failed to recover from a thigh injury.
