Neeraj Chopra won his maiden Gold Medal in his first Olympics games
Talking about the track and field athlete, his maiden Olympic participation was in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. In his maiden appearance, the Indian Army Subedar won the Gold Medal, beating four other competitors including Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem in the final. With this, the Indian contingent’s search for the Gold medal had ended.
After Abhinav Bindra did it in shooting in 2008, the Indian contingent failed to win a Gold medal in the 2012, and 2016 games. Meanwhile, the India Women’s Colts team would be looking to take the same inspiration from the champion athlete. Also, not to forget, when India’s men’s team played in the inaugural 20-20 World Cup in 2007, the team won the title, beating Pakistan in the final.
