‘Pakistan bowlers ke liye bohot acchi khabar hai’ – Fans react as Litton Das gets ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 due to viral fever
Asia Cup 2023 officially marks the start of the run-up to the ODI World Cup to be held in India. Each of the six teams in contention wants to stamp their mark in the tournament. The Indian cricket team has shown their dominance by winning the Asia Cup most times.
Injuries and illness though have played a huge part even before the tournament could begin. Co-hosts, Sri Lanka have already lost three of their pace bowlers due to injuries. Dilshan Madushanka, Lahiru Kumara, and Dushmanta Chameera are ruled out for the entire series.
Bangladesh too struck a blow when their star player Litton Das, was ruled out of Asia Cup 2023. The news came early on Wednesday morning much to the disappointment of the Bangladeshi cricket fans.
Massive blow for Bangladesh cricket
28-year-old star wicket-keeper and batter, Litton Das is ruled out of the entire tournament. The news came after it was revealed that Das, had contracted viral fever. This resulted in Litton Das pulling out of Asia Cup 2023 entirely.
Anamul Haque has been named as the replacement player for Litton Das. Speaking to the media after the news, the Bangladeshi chief selector, Minjahul Abedin said, “Anamul has been in the runs in domestic cricket. Due to Litton’s unavailability, we needed a top-order batter who could keep wickets, and Anamul got the nod.”
Bangladesh are in the same group as Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The Shakib AL Hasan-led side will be playing Sri Lanka in their opening game. The match is to take place on Thursday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Litton Das was the captain when Bangladesh lost their first ODI home series in a while. The 2-1 series loss came against Afghanistan where Das scored 92 runs from the three games. His best of 53 not-out came in the final ODI which saw Bangladesh take a consolation win.
Litton Das shot to fame during the 2018 Asia Cup final against India. The right-handed batter scored 121 off 117 balls to help Bangladesh reach 222. This century was his first ever in ODI cricket. The Indian team won the contest in the last ball to win the title.

Bangladesh already have problems in their batting lineup. After Tamim, Liton is also out. Advantage for Afghanistan in the respective group.
