Afghanistan defeated the Netherlands in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. A collective team effort helped them to overcome a competitive side like the Dutch. In the process, Afghanistan reached the fifth spot in the points table of the ODI World Cup 2023. With 4 wins in 7 matches in the tournament so far, Afghanistan has improved its chances of qualifying for the semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Opting to bat first, the Netherlands got a good start. in the first 10 overs, Netherlands posted 66/1 in Lucknow. That was when the collapse began. From 73/1, the Netherlands ended up getting reduced to a total of just 179 runs in their first innings. Some poor running between the wickets led to the Netherlands’ collapse, along with the brilliant spin bowling from Afghanistan. The four spinners from Afghanistan had a brilliant performance in the field.

Mujeeb Zadran claimed 1/40 in his 10 overs. Mohammad Nabi was brilliant with the ball, as he claimed 3/28 in his 9 overs. Rashid Khan bowled an economical spell and conceded only 31 runs in his 10 overs. Noor Ahmad claimed 2 wickets. Afghanistan did not find it difficult to chase the target.
