On Tuesday (16 June 2022), Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah announced the winners of the TV and Digital Media Rights of the Indian T20 Leauge for the next five-year cycle. However, he added that it would have a two-and-a-half-month window in the next FTP cycle.

‘Booking top players will have an adverse effect on bilateral cricket’ – PCB

Speaking to PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board told that booking top players for over 74 days will have an adverse effect on bilateral cricket. They also said that it made them happy to see money coming to Cricket. But, the booking of so many players for such a long period will affect bilateral cricket.

An official source of the Pakistan Cricket Board said: “The board meeting of the Governing Body of Cricket will be held during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July and this matter will probably be discussed there,” He also added: “Mr. Jay Shah has said the Indian Board is committed to international bilateral cricket but with so many leagues cropping up and the Indian T20 Leauge planning expansion this has to be discussed among the cricket boards,”

Speaking of the participation of Pakistani players in the Indian T20 League, they only participated in the inaugural season of this tournament.  After that, they were not given any chances because of the tense cross-border relationship between the two countries.

PCB feels that the matter needs to be discussed and that’s why they are planning to discuss it with other Cricket Boards. Their reaction came a day after Jay Shah told PTI that the Indian T20 Leauge will have a “two and a half month window” in the next FTP cycle starting from 2024 till 2031. Even though, Shah told that they had discussions with various boards as well as the Governing Body of Cricket regarding this decision already.
