 ‘Pakistan ko ab baarish bachaegi’ – Fans react as India and Pakistan reserve day clash of Asia Cup 2023 to expect heavy rains

India and Pakistan meet at R. Premadasa stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka witnessed a foreseen cliffhanger as the game got abandoned on the first day of its original schedule. India vs Pakistan met on 10th September in Colombo for the super fours stage match in the Asia Cup 2023. However, due to heavy rains expected the game was allotted a reserve day on 11th September by the Pakistan cricket board, the hosts of the continental tournament.

India vs Pakistan became the only game in the Asia Cup, 2023 to have a reserve day considering the high intensity of the game due to its political relations. As reported by the meteorological department and Google weather, the maximum temperature today in Colombo is expected to be approximately 28 degrees, with around 80 percent chances of rain. Humidity is also appearing to be around 81 percent, with cloud conditions and  cover of mostly 99 percent.

India vs Pakistan Match Summary

On 10 September, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first considering the weather conditions and the dew factor, the team’s captain Babar Azam during the toss said, “We will bowl first. I think there is a bit of moisture, we need to use that. India vs Pakistan is always high intensity, but we will take it match to match. As a team, we are playing well, we are focused on this one.” 

India’s opening duo, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, dominated Pakistan’s formidable bowling attack, reaching 61-0 after 10 overs. Yet, Pakistan’s Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi provided the anticipated breakthrough by dismissing the openers in consecutive overs. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 56 and 58 runs off 49, and 52 deliveries, respectively. The game will resume on 11th with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at the score of 8 and 17 off 16 and 28 deliveries, with India’s score of 147-2 at the end of 24.1 overs.
