India continued their dominant performance against Australia as they retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth consecutive time. The hosts won the second Test of a four-match series in Delhi by 6 wickets to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 against the visitors. The second Test also ended on the third day.

Batting first, Australia were bowled out for 263 runs in the first innings. Usman Khawaja top-scored with 81 runs off 125 balls, scoring 12 fours and a six. Meanwhile, Peter Handcomb remained unbeaten after scoring 72 off 142 balls with nine boundaries.

As for India, Mohammed Shami was the leading wicket-taker in the first innings for India as he sent 4 Australian batters to the pavilion. Ravichandran Ashwin And Ravindra Jadeja shared 3 wickets each.

The visitors managed to bowl out India for 262 runs with a lead of just 1 run in the first innings, as Nathan Lyon took a five-wicket haul. Axar Patel played a tremendous knock of 74 runs from 115 balls with nine fours and three sixes.

Axar scored his second half-century of the series, adding 114 runs with Ashwin (37 off 71) for the eighth wicket. Virat Kohli scored 44 off 84 balls with four boundaries.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Australian batters completely surrendered in front of Indian spin-duo. As Ashwin took 3 wickets conceding 59 runs, Jadeja turned out to be a nightmare for the visitors.

The leg spinner registered his career-best figures in Tests, taking 7 wickets and giving away only 42 runs. Travis Head (43 off 46) and Marnus Labuschagne (35 off 50) were the only batters to cross double digits for Australia in the second innings as the visitors got bowled out for 113 runs with a lead of 114.

Chasing the total, India lost KL Rahul early as he got out for 1 by Nathan Lyon in the second over of the innings. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma took the charge and played aggressively as he scored 31 runs off 20 balls with three fours and two sixes.

He, unfortunately, got run out in the seventh over due to a miscommunication between him and Cheteshwar Pujara. Playing his hundredth Test, Pujara finished the game in style with a boundary in the 27th over. He remained unbeaten on 31 off 74 balls, scoring four boundaries, along with KS Bharat, who scored 23 off 22 with three fours and a six.
