Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continued his dominance against Australia in the ongoing Test series. He has picked up 6 wickets in the ongoing second Test in Delhi, scalping 3 wickets each in the two innings. The thing that is common in both innings is the wickets of Australia’s star batter Steve Smith.

In the first innings, Ashwin bowled a slider that kept going with the angle and found the edge of Smith’s bat before the wicketkeeper KS Bharat grabs it. He was gone for a duck after playing just two balls. In the second innings, the 33-year-old tried to counter Ashwin with a sweep shot but ended up with the ball hitting the pads and he was declared LBW out after scoring 9 runs.

Other than Smith, Ashwin also took the wicket of Travis Head who was looking in good touch after the end of day two, and dismissed Matt Renshaw to complete his three wickets. Head got out after scoring 43 runs off 46 balls including six fours and a six.

Australia got bowled out for 113 runs in second innings

Along with Ashwin, his spin-mate Ravindra also continued his form from the last match and ended up taking 7 wickets after giving 42 runs. The leg spinner scalped the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Handscomb, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, and Matthew Kuhnemann.

The spin-duo scalped all the 10 wickets as Australia bowled out for 113 leading by 114 runs against India. Australia made 263 runs in the first innings and managed to bowl out India for 262 taking a lead of just 1 run in the first inning. Apart from Head and Labuschagne, none of the Australian batters reached the double-digits.

India now require 115 runs to win the second Test of the series and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 ina the four-match series. With this India would also be able to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy after winning it in 2017, 2018-19, and 2020-21.
