‘Parampara, Pratistha aur anushashan bani rahni chahiye’, fans react as Bangalore succumbs to Gujarat in the Women’s T20 League
In the sixth game of the Women’s T20 League, Gujarat beat Bangalore Women by 11 runs to register their first win in the season. Chasing 202, Bangalore failed to hold its nerves in important moments and lost the game. Bangalore started well while Chasing 202 runs as captain Smriti Mandhana, along with Sophie Devine, added 54 runs for the first wicket.
Mandhana was dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner for 18 runs off 14 balls. After her departure, Devine, along with Australian allrounder Ellyse Perry, tried to rescue Bangalore but eventually failed. Perry was dismissed by Manshi Joshi for 32 runs off 25 balls. Their slow partnership pushed Bangalore under pressure and they failed to handle it.
In the end, Heather Knight tried to remove pressure as she hammered 30 runs off 11 balls. However, she didn’t get any support from other players and failed to rescue her team. This is Bangalore’s third defeat in as many games and they are last placed in the points table.
Sophia Dunkley and Harleen Deol were fired for Gujarat
