‘Phir LSG vs RCB match kaun dekhega’ – Fans react as Gautam Gambhir is unlikely to take part in IPL 2024 due to elections

The news around Gautam Gambhir’s status on participation in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League has been different. Some sources say that the former World Cup winner might leave Lucknow Super Giants to join Kolkata Knight Riders. The new reports say that Gambhir might leave LSG and not join any franchise due to the Lok Sabha elections.  

The fact that Gautam Gambhir is a Member of Parliament and does not attend enough sessions has already been criticized by the fans. If the former Indian cricketer does not take part in the elections, there will be more questions raised about the conviction of the individual for the sake of the party and the people. As a result, Gambhir will have to contest in the elections.   

If Gambhir opts to participate in the elections, he will have to dedicate himself completely to the party, ahead of the big elections in 2024. In that case, the former Indian batter cannot take part in the Indian Premier League 2024, as getting involved in two different responsibilities with full conviction is impossible, which looks like the case for now.  

Change of personnel in Lucknow Super Giants

The 41-year-old was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants for two consecutive seasons in the Indian Premier League. Under the guidance of the veteran, LSG made it to the playoffs of the IPL in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023. As the contracts of some of the members of the management were over, LSG opted to change the personnel. Justin Langer and MSK Prasad have joined the franchise for the 2024 season of the IPL.  

If Gambhir is unavailable, it might act as a big blow for the franchise, as the experience of the former World Cup winner is huge and can be hard to replace. The former Delhi cricketer was like an inspiration for the youngsters in the camp of LSG. But the case of Gambhir joining KKR as the new mentor seems unlikely, as the new reports point towards Gambhir not taking part in the IPL 2024.
