The Indian T20 League 2022 concluded with the debutants, Gujarat emerging as the winners. They defeated Rajasthan in the finals to lift the trophy. The 2008 champions made it to the finals after defeating Bangalore in Qualifier 2. Bangalore under the leadership of their new captain Faf du Plessis broke the jinx of Eliminators and made it to the Qualifier 2 of the tournament. But their ride in the league was no less than a roller coaster ride. While in some matches they displayed supreme class, in some matches they were completely outplayed by the opposition. Hence, moving ahead to the next season Bangalore might look to release a few of their players and replace them with better options who would fit their combination and strategy for the next season.

Here is a list of three players Bangalore might look to release ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023.

Sherfane Rutherford: Sherfane Rutherford was roped in by Bangalore into their squad for a price of INR 1 Cr. He came in with the reputation of being a hard-hitting lower-order batter and a handy medium-pace bowler. But he failed to live up to the expectations of the franchise in the three matches that he played. He was able to score only 33 runs in the matches at an average of 16.5 and a strike rate of 66.0. So, the team management might look to replace him with a better all-round domestic option for the next season.

David Willey: David Willey was also roped into the Bangalore squad as an all-rounder for a price of INR 2 Cr. He was not impressive either with the bat and the ball. He scored only 18 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of 60.0 and an average of 9. With the bowl in hand, he was economical but picked up just 1 wicket in 4 matches. Therefore, Bangalore might release the English all-rounder ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023.

Siddharth Kaul: Bangalore included Siddharth Kaul with the hope that he will be a good Indian replacement bowling option for the team. But in the lone match that they tried Kaul in place of Mohammed Siraj, he disappointed the team management. Kaul conceded 43 runs in the match at an economy rate of 10.75 and failed to pick up any wicket. They might look to release the bowler and find a better option to replace him.
