Prithvi Shaw expresses disappointment through a cryptic post following India ODI team snub
India announced their ODI team for the upcoming three-match series with South Africa on Sunday. The 16-member squad had some unexpected names such as Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar, however, one emission that has caught the eye of many is Prithvi Shaw.
The 22-year-old batter after seeing a sensational rise in Indian cricket has since then been neglected by the selectors. After having scored a blistering 77 in just 48 balls against the New Zealand A side, many had hoped for the return of Shaw to the national side. However, the selection committee decided against the 22-year-old inclusion and overlooked the batter again.
Following the squad announcement, Shaw took to social media to show his frustration at the team’s decision and posted a cryptic message. Shaw’s Instagram story read, “Don’t trust their words, trust their actions because actions will prove why words are meaningless.”

Although Prithvi Shaw doesn’t name anyone in his post, the message certainly shows disappointment at not being selected.
India ODI squad sees some new faces, some old
The Indian selectors have instead gone for Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad as the opening pair for the ODI series against South Africa. Shubman Gill has also been awarded for good performances in West Indies and Zimbabwe. Shreyas Iyer has been given another chance to prove his personal victory over short balls that has sidelined his career in recent times. Patidar, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan also make it into the team this time around.
Mukesh Kumar and Rajat Patidar are two players who would be making their debut for the ODI team. The rest of the team includes Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj and Deepak Chahar.
India is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against South Africa from 6th October. None of the players taking part in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup have been included in the ODI series as they would be going through a rest ahead of the mega event.
