On 28 August 2022, India is going to play Pakistan in their first match of the Asia Cup. After last year’s defeat in the T20 World Cup, India will look to do well against their arch-rivals this time around. However, India dealt with a blow when their regular coach Rahul Dravid tested Covid positive before the tournament.

India will be happy to have the services of Rahul Dravid ahead of the Pakistan clash
Earlier, the Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah shared the news of Dravid getting tested positive in a release. He said: “Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report,”.
Now, speaking to the Indian Express, an official of the board said that Dravid is full set to fly to the UAE. He said: “Rahul’s test results have come negative and he is fit to fly,”. Speaking about the match, fans will be eager to see both these teams in action in the UAE.
However, both teams will miss their prime fast bowlers. India will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah due to his back injury. On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi will also miss this match due to his knee injury. Along with him, Mohammad Wasim Jr. will also be not a part of the tournament. He got a side strain injury during a practice session. Hence, without these players, India and Pakistan will look to give their best with a motive to win this prestigious tournament.
