Indian Test side is going to lock horns with England from July 1, 2022, with a motive to win a historical series on English soil. India announced a possible strong squad for this match by calling back big names like Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli. These players were given a rest before the home T20I series against South Africa at home.

However, Rohit Sharma got infected with Covid-19 and that gave a huge blow to India before the match. Though he is still yet to be ruled out from the match, reports are suggesting that Jasprit Bumrah is going to lead India if he fails to play ultimately. After the announcement of Rohit Sharma’s Covid infection, Indian fans and other former cricket greats were seen to vote for Virat Kohli to make him the captain for this vital match.

“Virat was and will be a leader in the fifth match against England” – Rahul Dravid

Speaking to media reporters, Rahul Dravid lauded the leadership skills of Virat Kohli. He said that no matter who will become the captain, he will be the leader of the group versus England in that upcoming Test match. He said: “Virat Kohli was the Team leader and he will be the Team Leader in the fifth Test match against England no matter who will be the captain.”

This is not the first time when the Indian head coach praised his leadership qualities as he did the same during India’s tour of South Africa, earlier this year. Speaking about the match, if Rohit Sharma misses it, then, Virat Will be a key factor to help the newly appointed captain in this vital match.

Speaking about his leadership skills in this longest format of the game for India, he led his country in 68 matches where he managed to win 40 matches with 17 losses and 11 draws. His match-winning percentage was 58.82 which made him the greatest ever Indian captain in Tests. Under his captaincy, India remained the number one side in Tests for consecutive five years.
