After winning both the ODI and T20I series in West Indies, India is getting ready to face Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series. The series is going to start from 18 August to 22 August 2022. However, senior players took a rest from this series ahead of the Asia Cup, later this month.
Speaking of the squad for this series, Rahul Tripathi got a call-up again. As India’s prime middle-order batters took a rest, players like Rahul Tripathi will look to utilize their chances if he gets any. Now, reports are there that he is most likely to make a debut for India in the series opener.

Rahul got his first international call-up during the two-match T20I series against Ireland. But, he did not any chance to showcase his talent. Therefore, now as per reports, he is leading the race to make his ODI debut in the first match of the series. However, he played for India in a warm-up T20 match against Northants in England. He scored only seven runs.
With the absence of senior players, there is a high chance that India will go with a middle-order batting line-up with the likes of Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, and Sanju Samson. Speaking about numbers, Tripathi has already proved his worth as a middle-order batter during the last edition of the Indian T20 League. He represented the Hyderabad franchise and scored 413 in 14 matches. Rahul smashed those runs at an average of 37.54 with a strike rate of 158.23. He also played some match-winning knocks. However, still, his heroics went in vain as Hyderabad failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Indian T20 League 2022.
