‘Rajasthan wale to tash ke patto ki tarah jhadh gaye’ – Fans react as RCB thrash RR by 112 runs, move to 5th in IPL 2023 points table

Rajasthan Royals (RR) face Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 60 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, May 14. The Bangalore side won the match by 112 runs and Wayne Parnell was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance in the match.

If we talk about the encounter, RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to ball first. The visitors while batting first scored a total of 171 runs with the loss of five wickets. The highest scorer for the side was Du Plessis, who scored 55 runs off 44 balls with three fours and two sixes in his innings.

Glenn Maxwell played a crucial knock of 54 runs from 33 balls, which included five fours and three sixes in the innings. For RR, Adam Zampa and KM Asif snapped two wickets in their spell of four overs.

RR, while chasing a target of 172 runs, was bundled out on a mere total of 59 runs. The highest scorer of the side was  Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 35 runs from 19 balls with four sixes. The pick of the bowler for RCB was Parnell, who snapped three wickets in his spell of three overs and conceded 10 runs in his spell.

“Really good for our NRR. Tough pitch. We batted first and assessed the conditions. We batted in the powerplay and thought 160 will be a good score. We have had a good setup till the 15th over. But we managed to capitalize on the momentum shift at the end. Great job. Bracewell would want to bowl on this every day of the week.”

“We needed a left-arm spinner. Maybe Shahbaz could have been an option. Wrist spin could have been an attacking option. Hopefully, we can set it up for the last game at the Chinnaswamy. Today was a good one for the team. They needed this confidence to go into the last two games,” Du Plessis was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.

“Obviously, credit to our batters. The last over gave us momentum. We could execute well. The message was to take pace off the ball. Bowl it at the sticks. We were able to execute everything. The surface was low, slow and skiddy. Was trying to make them play across the line. When I wasn’t playing, I was preparing. It is a long tournament and you need to be switched on every game,” Parnell was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
