Rahul Dravid Breaks Silence On Ravindra Jadeja’s Rumoured Exit From 20-20 World Cup

Ravindra Jadeja is currently with the Indian team in UAE for the ongoing Asia Cup. He also played two matches in the tournament which India won. Against Pakistan, he played a great knock while chasing. But, on 2 September, the Indian Cricket Board said that he will not be available for the rest of the tournament.

In an official statement, they confirmed that Jadeja will miss the rest of the Asia Cup due to a right knee injury. They also said that Axar Patel will replace him in the squad for this tournament. But, now, on 3 September, reports are circulating that Jadeja is going to miss the upcoming 20-20 World Cup also. As per a senior Board official, he will undergo major knee surgery. Thus, he will be out of action for an indefinite period of time.

Speaking to PTI, a senior official from the Indian Cricket Board said that Ravindra Jadeja’s injury is quite serious. Jadeja might not be available for the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. He said: “Jadeja’s right knee injury is pretty serious. He is supposed to undergo major knee surgery and will be out of action for an indefinite period of time. At this point, if one goes by the assessment of the NCA’s medical team, one can’t put a timeline on his imminent international comeback.” 

However, according to this report, it will be a huge blow for India ahead of the 20-20 World Cup. Jadeja has been an instrumental part of their recent success in the shortest format of the game. However, Indian coach Rahul Dravid broke his silence on this matter. He said: “Jadeja is injured his knee. He is under the care of the medical team WC is a fair time away, let’s not jump and say he is out. I don’t want to rule him out.”

Speaking of the official statement about his injury, the Board said: “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup. Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. His replacement, Axar Patel was earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad and will join the team in Dubai soon.”
