The Indian T20 League 2022 has come to an end with the debutants of the tournament emerging as the winners of the season. The four teams that made it to the playoffs were Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bangalore, and Lucknow. Bangalore under the leadership of a new captain, Faf du Plessis broke the jinx of Eliminator and made it to Qualifier 2 of the season. But They failed to progress further and their wait for the maiden ITL trophy has extended one more year.

Here are three reasons why they failed to make it to the summit clash and win the title for the first time.

Virat Kohli

1. Virat Kohli’s dismal run with the bat: Arguably the most prolific run-scorer for India in recent times has been Virat Kohli. But he has been off-colors for the last couple of seasons. His lean patch with the bat continued in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League 2022. He scored 341 runs in 16 matches with an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.99.

Kohli not scoring runs rendered the Bangalore batting lineup weak. After a few matches, he was promoted up the order to open the batting. But except for a few knocks here and there, he failed to live up to the expectations. As a result, Bangalore did not get the starts that they needed to put up formidable scores on the board.
