Reports: Shahrukh Khan, R Sai Kishore included in India’s squad four West Indies series as cover
Shahrukh Khan and Sai Kishore have been included in the Indian squad for the limited-overs series against West Indies. These players have been included in the team as a cover if a player gets infected by COVID-19. The Men In Blue will play the three-match ODI and T20I series starting from February 6. The ODIs will be played in Ahmedabad while T20Is will be played in Kolkata.
Khan scored a match-winning unbeaten 33 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final and amassed 253 runs in eight games at a strike rate of 186.02, which was the highest, while averaging 42.16. The sturdy batter has been playing as a finisher in the Tamil Nadu team.
Meanwhile, the BCCI source has said that the board wants to cover all its bases with the third of COVID19 still persisting. “The BCCI wants to have all its bases covered. With the third wave still persisting, the Board cannot take a chance, and Shahrukh and Sai Kishore have been added to the squad. Sai Kishore will be a good handy bowler at the nets too,” said the BCCI source
Tamil Nadu haven’t named any replacement for Shahrukh Khan and Sai Kishore
The BCCI source has added that the Tamil Nadu team hasn’t announced any replacement for Khan and Kishore. The team management was looking to play without Washington Sundar, who is part of the Indian squad, but now the team composition will change.
“Once the West Indies series would have ended, Washington would have been available. So the management was okay to play the first couple of matches with 19 players. Now the team composition might change with both Shahrukh and Sai missing. A final decision will be taken in the next two days.”
